MONDAY, APRIL 8 Someone pried open laundry machines on the 2500 block of Crystal Court to remove cash. Similar activity was noted in laundry rooms on the 2400 block of Emerald Court as well, located about one block east. Evelyn Siaskiewicz, 21, of the 4800 block of South Knox, Chicago, was charged at about 3:21 p.m. with retail theft after removing an item of jewelry from a store on the 1000 block of 75th Street. The remains were discovered on Saturday afternoon near Ide's Grove East Park; police are investigating their origin.
Two children walking in a wooded area near the 7900 block of Lemont Road in Woodridge on Saturday around 1:30 p.m. discovered skeletal human remains, launching a major investigation, the Chicago Tribune reports. According to the paper, teeth were found and a dental examination was scheduled for Monday; a forensic “bone specialist” is also being consulted. “We have no leads as to who this is,” DuPage County Coroner Richard A. Jorgensen told the paper, adding that investigators do not know the gender of the person or the cause or manner of death, and declined to give any more information as to the parts of the body found.
