Read Ferenc Vandor's candidate bio on Patch.
What is the primary reason you are running for this office? I have been a resident of Woodridge since 1983. I want to bring about a breath of fresh air to Woodridge. This is my second run for mayor. I ran in 1996. I received approximately 1,600 votes against Mayor Murphy's approximately 2,100. It clearly proved that residents were looking for a change. What will be your single most important priority if you get elected? To establish term limits for offices of mayor and trustees. Two terms (8 yrs) would be ideal. No one should be mayor again for 32 years. Also, to promote friendly and receptive environments for the residents to come forward and participate at all levels of community involvement. If your race is contested, what sets …

What is the primary reason you are running for this office? I am running for Mayor because I want to contribute and help make Woodridge a great place to live. Woodridge, like many towns, is facing significant financial challenges that will not be going away. For too long, government’s answer has been to simply raise property taxes. I want to help make government more efficient so that the Village can continue to deliver core services at the highest level without raising taxes. What will be your single most important priority if you get elected? My main priority will be to reduce property taxes without compromising excellent public service. I will focus on delivering excellent core services such as police and infrastructure in a more …

What is the primary reason you are running for this office? I view this as the continuation of community service I have always been involved in but from a better position to get things done. What will be your single most important priority if you get elected? I don't think I can give a single priority. Many areas need to be addressed and they all need to work together. If your race is contested, what sets you apart from the other candidates? I have been a leader, successfully leading different organizations. I have not only volunteered in many areas of the community but have also developed and implemented various programs that have helped make Woodridge a better place to live. What do you think are the top 3 goals for the Village of …

What is the primary reason you are running for this office? I have had the honor to work and serve Woodridge for over 30 years, nine years as a Woodridge Village Trustee. Woodridge village trustee Joseph Kagann announced last week that he was withdrawing his petition to run for mayor. Instead, he'll seek re-election as a trustee.
A Woodridge village trustee withdrew his mayoral bid last week, but he'll still seek re-election as a trustee. Joseph Kagann, a trustee since 2003, first filed for both the mayoral and trustee races but will now only run for the latter. "It is not required that a reason be provided for the withdrawal, however ... candidates cannot run for two offices," deputy village clerk Jack Knight said in an email. Kagann, who was born and raised in Woodridge, is the son of former Mayor Joel Kagann. His withdrawal leaves four candidates vying for the mayoral seat: current trustee Gina Cunningham-Picek, as well as Gregory Abbott, Mike Krucek and Ferenc Vandor. There are three trustee’s seats up for election this year, and Kagann will try to retain …
