Tribal Art From India Coming to Woodridge Libary

The contemporary folk and tribal art will be on display at the Woodridge Public Library throughout the month of September.

A selection of contemporary folk and tribal art from India will be on display at the Woodridge Public Library for the month of September. Manvee Vaid, curator of the exhibit, has a BFA from the esteemed Sir J J School of Arts from University of Mumbai, India. She is a practicing artist in many media and is a strong proponent of folk art. She has recently launched a website to showcase contemporary folk art at www.DeccanFootprints.com. This exhibit features four distinct styles of art from different parts of India: Madhubani, Gond, Warli, and Bengal Scroll. The featured artists include Durga Bai, Baua Devi, Montu Chitrakar, presidential award-winner Gurupada Chitrakar, Shantaram, and Balu Mashe. Although different in style and subject …
