9 Rapes, 21 Assaults and More: Woodridge 2011 Crime Stats Released

Patch has created a searchable database of the FBI's recently released 2011 stats on violent crimes and property crimes.

The FBI recently released its 2011 Uniform Crime Report, which compiles information from local law enforcement about violent crimes and property crimes in their communities. In 2011, there were 38 violent crimes reported in Woodridge, including 21 aggravated assaults, nine forcible rapes, six robberies and two murder/nonnegligent manslaughter cases. I wonder how many of those Rapes could have been avoided/stopped IF ILLinois allowed law abiding citizens to carry firearms for lawful defensive purposes??? ILLinois is the ONLY state that does NOT allow law abiding citizens to carry firearems for lawful defensive purposes!!! Woodridge Man Wrongly Imprisoned for Rape Settles in Suit with Village for $5M

Woodridge officials said they deem the settlement and the identification of the true offender "as the best possible outcome."

The Woodridge man who was arrested, convicted, imprisoned and eventually cleared of a 1987 rape at a Woodridge apartment complex has been awarded a $5 million settlement, according to village officials. In 2008, Marcus Lyons filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the village and police investigators, claiming police targeted him, the only black resident at the complex, because the victim described a black assailant—despite noted physical differences between the two. Lyons took a polygraph test and gave blood and saliva samples, but the case against him was driven by fabricated evidence and a flawed line-up manufactured to have the victim identify Lyons, the suit stated.
