The case against a Woodridge man charged with murdering his father has been continued until October. Woodridge resident Yashesh Desai made a brief appearance in front of DuPage County Court Judge Robert Kleeman on Wednesday. At the state's request, a psychiatrist was to submit a report regarding Desai's sanity. Due to scheduling conflicts, however, the psychiatrist has requested an additional three weeks to prepare the reports. The judge continued Desai's case for four weeks, at which point each side will determine how it wants to proceed. Yashesh Desai's case was reassigned Monday to Judge Robert Kleeman.
The judge in the case of Yashesh S. Desai was reassigned during a hearing Monday at the DuPage County courthouse. Judge Robert Kleeman will now hear the case. The defense also filed a motion to request a psychiatric evalution, according to DuPage County State's Attorney's Office spokesman Paul Darrah. Desai was not present for the status hearing. His next court appearance will be his arraignment on Sept. 23. Police say Desai, 21, of 3 Plover Court, murdered his father early Aug. 14 by beating him in the head with a weed trimmer. Updated: 5:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15 A judge granted the state's motion for an appointment of a clinical psychologist in Monday's bond court hearing for the Woodridge man whom police say killed his father with a weed trimmer. Yashesh S. Desai, 21, of 3 Plover Court, Woodridge, has been charged with first-degree murder. Desai's bond was set at $2 million during Monday's hearing, said DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin. Berlin said Yashesh Desai talked about Godzilla, X and Y chromosomes and "killing the retards" in statements to police.
