Woodridge Man’s Invention Helps Skateboarders Learn Tricks

Linas Olsauskas is working on patenting his "Sk8Hook," a rubber-dipped skateboard attachment that can give boarders an extra lift and is now available for sale.

After mulling over his idea for an invention to give skateboarders some extra lift and control for 35 years, a Woodridge man is finally making a dream into a reality as his “Sk8Hook” is now for sale and in the process of being patented, the Suburban Life reports

“My name is Linas Olsauskas, I’m 48 years old, and that is Sk8Hook,” he says in the above commercial, after demonstrating a few simple maneuvers with the help of his device. “If I can do it, just imagine what you can do.”

According to the SL, Olsauskas was inspired by a Woodridge Reporter article about local inventors to revisit his childhood concept: rubber-coated tongs that are bolted to a skateboard, letting boarders use the pressure on the outside of their feet to get extra lift—a sort of training wheels for beginners as well as an assist for veterans learning even more difficult tricks.

“For the intermediate/ skilled skater SK8hook will bring your abilities to an entirely new level limited only by your imagination,” the device’s website promises.

"This is just something that was missing [from the skateboard industry]," Olsauskas told the paper. "It's an elevation that can change the sport in some way, if you had a little bit control over the board you'd see better landings and less injuries as well."

He has only sold two so far, but hopes that word will spread, the paper said.

You can buy the Sk8Hook at its official website.
