Art Van Furniture Store Breaking Ground in Woodridge on Friday

The Michigan-based Art Van Furniture is growing in the Chicago area, and that includes a new store in Woodridge that's breaking ground this week.

Self-described as the Midwest's top furniture and mattress retailer, Art Van opened stores in Orland Park and Merrillville, IN, this summer and also plans to open in Ford City, Batavia and Elston Avenue in Chicago. Art Van also opened a Bolingbrook distribution center this summer.

The retailer will mark the milestone with a groundbreaking ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at 900 E. Boughton Road, where the retail store will be located. Art Van Furniture CEO Kim Yost, Vice President and General Manager Barry Davidson, Woodridge Mayor Gina Cunningham-Picek and several other local dignitaries will be in attendance.

“We’re excited to build a brand new store in Woodridge,” Yost said in a news release. “We will feature 68,000 square feet of the best of the furniture industry including brand names Broyhill, England and ROMA furniture."

The store is scheduled to open in February 2014 and will bring 60 jobs to Woodridge.
